How to work out your level of English

A short breakdown of the levels from A1 to C2 and what each of them really means in practice.

The most common mistake when choosing a course is signing up for the wrong level. Here is what each one means.

A1 (Beginner). You know the alphabet, can introduce yourself and understand individual words. You cannot hold a conversation.

A2 (Elementary). You speak in simple phrases about yourself, your family and your work. You understand simple texts and can handle basic situations while travelling.

B1 (Intermediate). You speak freely on familiar topics and understand the main idea of complex texts. This is the level where the language starts to actually work for you.

B2 (Upper-Intermediate). You understand films without subtitles, handle business correspondence, argue and support your point. Enough for studying abroad.

C1-C2. Full command, including idioms and professional vocabulary.

Do not guess - come and take the free placement test. It takes 30 minutes: a written part and a short talk with a teacher.
